Bride to be killed in accident – two days before her wedding

A WOMAN who was to tie the knot this Saturday was killed in an accident this morning.

Siti Nur Syamira Samsol, 28, died after the car she was travelling in with her fiancé, Muhammad Aiman ​​Abdul Rashid, 30, was involved in an accident at Kilometer 93.3, North-South Highway (southbound) at about 8.30 am.

Reports said the deceased was said to be on her way back to her mother ‘s house in Kampung Benaung, Mersing to make preparations.

She was also to attend the tahlil ceremony for her late father, Samsol Ismail, tomorrow before the wedding took place.

Her sister, Siti Nor Syamila, 37, said the news of her sister’s death was only known after her fiancé was informed after the accident.

"We made all the preparations and were just waiting for the big day. Everything, including the gifts, were ready and the deceased was so happy as the day got closer.

"Two years ago, we lost our father, and today our younger sister. Our grief has not yet healed, and now our sister passed away two days before her wedding," she said when met by Berita Harian at the hospital today.

According to Nor Syamila, she received a call from her mother at 9.15 am informing her that her younger sister had been in an accident, but she did not expect to get such bad news.

"We were on the way to the hospital to see my sister, but about 15 minutes later, her fiancée called me to say that she was gone.

"The day before the incident, the deceased called my mother to tell her that she wanted to move back to Mersing and they promised to go out and buy wedding items," she said.

Regarding the deceased's wedding this Saturday, Nor Syamila said that she and the family have not yet decided whether to continue or change it to a tahlil ceremony.

For now, she said they need to complete the affairs of the deceased who will be taken back to her hometown for burial.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the accident was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – May 1, 2025
