Two men killed in Tawau, Kota Kinabalu accidents

TAWAU: A 31-year-old man was killed in an accident involving four vehicles along the Kunak-Tawau road on Tuesday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Jemishin Ujin said the vehicles involved were a five-tonne lorry, two four-wheel drives (a Mitsubishi Triton and a Toyota Hilux SR) and a Perodua Aruz, which the deceased had been travelling in.

He said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was handed over to the police for further action.

According to Jemishin, a team of eight firefighters along with two fire engines were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 12.54pm via the MERS999 emergency line.

“They arrived at the location, about 52km away, at 1.43pm. The operation ended at 2.42pm after ensuring the area was safe and there were no further hazards,” he said.

In KOTA KINABALU, a man in his 20s died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a car near the Syariah Court on Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, Tuesday.

The car was said to be travelling from Jalan UMS towards SK Likas when the 11.30am accident happened.

Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda, in a statement, said the motorcyclist was believed to have collided with the rear right side of the car driven by a man in his 30s.

Medical officials pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene due to severe head injuries, while the car driver escaped unharmed.

Kasim urged motorists to exercise caution by maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, always obey traffic rules and driving attentively, especially in high-traffic areas.
