Britain’s Davis Cup team secure finals berth after doubles win seals 3-0 victory over Norway in Oslo qualifying tie.

BRITAIN secured their place in the final round of Davis Cup qualifying after Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool won the decisive doubles on Friday.

The Wimbledon champions beat Norwegian pair Nicolai Budkov Kjaer and Viktor Durasovic 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7/5) to seal a 3-0 victory for the visiting team.

“It means the world to get our first point and win the tie for GB,” said Cash.

“We were ready for everything, we never take for granted that a match is going to be easy and we’re happy to get it across the line.”

Britain surged into a 2-0 lead on Thursday as Jack Draper made a triumphant return from an arm injury.

Cameron Norrie then won the second singles rubber to put the visitors in a commanding position.

Hosts Norway were without their top player Casper Ruud for the tie.

The world number 12 pulled out to spend time with his partner and newborn child.

Britain will now face either Australia or Ecuador for a place in November’s eight-team Davis Cup Finals.

Elsewhere this weekend, Serbia and Chile go head-to-head in Santiago.

The winner will set up a tie with Spain in the next round.

Qualifying second seeds Germany, without world number three Alexander Zverev, host Peru.

Ten-time winners France take on Slovakia in a tie starting Saturday.

Belgium, surprise semi-finalists last year, play Bulgaria in Plovdiv.
