Bryson DeChambeau made a flying start at LIV Golf South Africa on Thursday.

The American carded an opening round of eight-under-par to sit tied at the top of the leaderboard alongside Charles Howell III.

It continues a strong run of form for DeChambeau, who claimed the individual title in Singapore last week.

And he has now used that momentum to deliver a bold verdict on LIV Golf.

Speaking after his round, DeChambeau praised the overall product on display and what it represents for the future of the game.

“Yeah, just to everybody out there, this is what LIV was supposed to be and is and what it can be, not only here but in the States as well,” he said.

“I hope people can see the value in what we bring to the game of golf. It’s pretty awesome to see what the full product of LIV is.”

DeChambeau has long positioned himself as one of LIV Golf’s most vocal advocates, regularly speaking about growing the game and engaging new audiences.

His comments in South Africa reflect that continued belief, particularly as the league looks to expand its global reach.

On the course, DeChambeau’s performance backed up his words. The 30-year-old made a series of key putts during his round as he climbed into a share of the lead.

“I’m trying, man. I’m fighting hard and playing some good golf, and although it’s a different test, I played really well today and made some good putts,” he added.

After his victory in Singapore, DeChambeau is now building serious momentum heading into the rest of the week.

If he can maintain this level, he will be firmly in contention to secure back-to-back wins on the LIV Golf circuit.
