Bryson DeChambeau has become one of the most popular figures in golf over the past few years.
The LIV Golf star has built a huge following through his performances and growing presence away from the course. However, that rise did not happen by chance.
DeChambeau has now revealed how a conversation with Hollywood star Chris Pratt helped change everything for him.

DeChambeau admitted that he reached a point where he was unsure how to present himself to the world.
That led to a conversation with Pratt, who offered him a simple but powerful choice.
“I was talking to Chris Pratt about being somebody else. I don’t know what to do anymore,” DeChambeau said after an opening round of eight-under-par at LIV Golf South Africa.
“He goes, ‘Bryson, there are two choices: you can act and play a part or you can be yourself.’”
From that point on, DeChambeau decided to fully embrace being authentic, regardless of whether anyone else liked him for it.
“I chose to be myself, and I chose to show up every day being myself,” he explained. “I didn’t talk about it. I didn’t describe it. I just went out and was myself.”
That decision carried over into all aspects of his career, from his performances on the course to his growing YouTube presence.
He also acknowledged that his personality has always included a competitive edge, but maturity has helped him channel it more effectively.
“As you mature and grow up a little bit, those things reduce, and you start to be more of your authentic self,” he added.
DeChambeau believes that approach has helped him connect with fans, while also recognising a responsibility to entertain and showcase the sport.
Bryson DeChambeau admits he never expected his popularity
Despite his success, DeChambeau admits he never imagined reaching this level of popularity.
“Absolutely not, no,” he said when asked if he expected such widespread support. “There’s no question I thought I could have been one of the best in the game at the time. I could have gotten there.”
However, the level of attention and backing he now receives has exceeded anything he anticipated.
“But seeing this much support, this much love, this much care, this much curiosity… It’s just beyond my wildest dreams.”
DeChambeau also acknowledged that his journey has not always been smooth, with some golf fans being critical of him earlier in his career.
“I can’t thank the game of golf and everybody in the game for supporting me through thick and thin, even when I was at my worst.”
