KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) and the Kota Kinabalu City Lions Club have joined hands to bring comfort to children with serious illnesses through the BuddyBear Companion Project.

The partnership was formalised with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sept 17, with Lions Club sponsoring the first 100 BuddyBear kits and supporting the project’s launch and adoption campaign.

Each kit will include a soft toy bear, wellness tools, personalised notes, and other items aimed at easing the emotional journey of children with chronic or life-limiting conditions.

MAPPAC president Dr Ng Su Fang said the initiative not only brings comfort but also raises awareness about paediatric palliative care and helps sustain Malaysia’s first children’s hospice here.

Kota Kinabalu City Lions Club president Debbie Chin said sponsoring the first 100 kits was driven by their commitment to bring hope to children and inspire more in the community to join the cause.
