TAWAU: The Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) and the Sabah Islamic Council (Muis) should create a special bureau for newly converted Muslims in each mosque and surau in the State to provide guidance and prevent marginalisation, according to State Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
He hopes the institutions will be in a position to make suggestions to the committee members of each mosque and surau management, even in rural locations, about the establishment of such special bureaus.
He said that the issue is significant in the endeavour to guide converts, particularly in order to enhance their understanding of religion while also making sure that they are not marginalised, notably in the event of divorce
