Cargo facility drug bust nets P14.29-M shabu

MANILA, Philippines —  Government authorities seized more than 2,000 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, from a parcel declared as "plastic and ropes" originating from Cambodia.

The shipment was intercepted by operatives of the Bureau of Customs - Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BoC-NAIA) on July 8, 2026, at an international cargo facility within the NAIA complex.

The parcel, with an estimated standard value of P14,293,600, was flagged based on derogatory information received from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Authorities uncovered 2,102 grams of the illegal substance concealed inside multiple spools of rope upon physical examination.

BoC-NAIA said that the operation was carried out in coordination with the PDEA, NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, PNP Aviation Security Group, Airport Police Department, and other government agencies.

Port of NAIA District Collector Yasmin Mapa said the seized items were turned over to the PDEA for laboratory analysis and further investigation.
