Carlos Marchena is leaving his job as assistant coach at Valencia.
While head coach Ruben Baraja has penned a new deal Marchena will the backroom staff.
The former VCF defender stated: "Four months ago I received a call from a friend asking me to help him save a Club that I hold close to my heart. I did not hesitate, I felt that I was obliged to give 200% and put all my dedication to his service.
"In the same way, today I feel the need to step aside to continue with my personal life projects. It has been a brief, intense, difficult stage and, fortunately, with a happy ending.
"I thank Rubn: thank you friend for choosing me and trusting me. I thank the Valencian fans: thank you for the support and affection shown. I have always felt the warmth and closeness but I did not imagine how far they could go.
"I am leaving happy for having been able to give back to this Club part of how much it has given me and grateful for feeling that you made me part of your family.
"GO VALENCIA"
