Carlos Prates says he should be next in line for a title shot following his performance at UFC Perth.
The Brazilian travelled to Australia and faced Jack Della Maddalena, putting on an impressive display against the former champion.
Prates looked sharp from the opening bell, eventually breaking through with a third-round knockout to extend his win streak to three in front of a sold-out RAC Arena.
There’s talk that Ian Machado Garry, the only man to beat Prates in the UFC, could be next up for Islam Makhachev. But Prates doesn’t think that makes sense anymore.

Prates calls for a title shot against Islam Makhachev following UFC Perth victory
Prates lost to Garry in Kansas City just over a year ago, but he has quickly regained momentum in the welterweight division.
Before defeating Della Maddalena, Prates also knocked out Leon Edwards at UFC 322 last November.
“I should be next,” Prates said at his post-fight press conference in Perth.
“Nobody beat two former champs in a really good way, you know? They had never lost by knockout, and then I come in there and make it look easy.
Meanwhile, Garry is also making his case for a title shot after wins over Prates and former champion Belal Muhammad in 2025. Recent reports suggest the Irishman is the leading candidate to face Makhachev at UFC 330 this August.
Prates will be hoping that his emphatic performance Down Under will be enough to put him ahead of Garry as Makhachev’s next opponent.
