KOTA KINABALU: The Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF) successfully hosted its 2026 KLF Charity Golf Tournament at the Sabah Golf & Country Club (SGCC) on Saturday.
The event commenced with the presentation of a RM50,000 CSR allocation from KKIP to KLF, which will fund Dusun Kiau and Dusun Labuk language studies, including fieldwork, documentation, research, and reference material preparation.
It was presented by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick to the Chairman of the KLF Board of Trustee Datuk Philip Lasimbang, Philip welcomed the allocation, noting that as a non-profit organiSation to sustain its indigenous language programmes, KLF relies deeply on community and corporate backing.
According to him, the proceeds from this year’s tournament will support the KLF Building Fund, establishing a permanent home to secure future language, education, and cultural initiatives.
“For over three decades, the Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF) has pioneered the preservation and promotion of indigenous languages.
“Its impact spans publishing dictionaries, conducting linguistic research, training teachers, and launching community-driven cultural programmes.
“The KLF Charity Golf Tournament is more than a game—it bridges the public, private, and community sectors to safeguard an invaluable cultural heritage. Every participant and donor will share our commitment to protecting indigenous linguistic traditions,” he said.
He believed the strong collaboration fostered through the tournament will continue to deepen in the coming years, ensuring that collective efforts to preserve and promote indigenous languages and cultures remain sustainable for future generations.
He also expressed his appreciation to all sponsors, participants, volunteers, and strategic partners for their unwavering support.
