MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang questioned the calls for the upcoming September 21 protest, demanding that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. resign.
This comes after the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) announced that it will stage another protest on September 21, continuing last year’s anti-corruption protest that ended in the arrest of over 200 individuals and the death of a construction worker.
In their previous protests, the group called for the simultaneous resignation of the president and Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that Marcos, as well as the Office of the Ombudsman, moved swiftly to investigate allegations and file cases based on gathered evidence.
“We can see what actions he is taking with the help of other agencies, where cases are quickly filed after the evidence has been studied,” said Castro in Filipino.
"What else do these people want?" Castro further questioned.
