MANILA, Philippines — Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday said the Minority bloc is ready to take on more responsibilities as he called for the Senate to speed up its work amid continuous rains and other pressing problems affecting the country.
Cayetano made the remarks as he completed the Minority bloc's membership in several Senate committees, allowing the chamber to fill remaining committee posts.
"There are some real issues, and I think all of us do want to work together to speed up the work," Cayetano said during the Senate session.
"Given not only the climate but the number of problems affecting the country, people are looking at the Senate. The Minority, of course, joins the Majority," he added.
Cayetano also said the Minority is “willing to up its load in terms of committees” and take on additional responsibilities to help the Senate address its workload and speed up its work.
