MANILA, Philippines — Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano called for unity and focused governance following his and his sister Sen. Pia Cayetano’s return to the country late Saturday night.
The siblings arrived past 11 p.m. on Saturday from their three-day personal trip to Singapore, with Cayetano taking to social media to urge leaders to shift their focus away from political intrigue and toward finding solutions to the country's problems.
"Through God's grace, we are back! And in the arms of our beloved Philippines! Our country has so many problems and opportunities. Less intrigue and politics, please. More solutions, cooperation, and collaboration," he said.
The Senate minority leader also called for the protection of individual rights, urging Filipinos to stand up for one another and defend fundamental freedoms.
"Let’s fight for each other’s rights! From our God-given natural rights to fighting for the rights of every single Filipino under our Constitution!" he added.
