SEN. Pia Cayetano addressed social media speculation over her whereabouts Friday, saying her trip to Singapore was a long-planned visit to support the Philippine national padel team competing in the Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT) Love All Grand Slam Platinum Singapore 2026.
“I heard a lot of people are looking for me, huh?” Cayetano said on Facebook Live on Friday, apparently referring to questions and rumors circulating online about her absence.
Cayetano said she had no hidden agenda and no reason to hide, saying that the Singapore trip had been scheduled well in advance.
She said she went to Singapore to support Filipino athletes competing in the international padel tournament, while reiterating her desire to continue playing the sport and representing the Philippines.
Cayetano, however, did not mention her brother, Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, who departed the Philippines on the same day she did.
Instead, she kept her remarks focused on her sporting engagement, emphasizing that she remains committed to competing and representing the country.
The APPT Love All Grand Slam Platinum Singapore 2026 is a major tournament on the Asia Pacific Padel Tour. Padel, a racket sport played on an enclosed court that combines elements of tennis and squash, has been gaining popularity internationally and among Filipino athletes.
Cayetano has been an advocate of sports development and has participated in padel competitions representing the Philippines. Her remarks underscored her intention to remain active in the sport while continuing her work in the Senate.
