
Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, on Friday flagged off the youth voter awareness cycle rally titled ‘Pedal for Democracy’ from the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
The rally was organised with the objective of encouraging young citizens to register as voters, participate in elections and uphold democratic values. Through the initiative, participants were sensitised about the importance of voter registration, exercising their right to vote and contributing to the democratic process.
Addressing the participants on the occasion, Gyanesh Kumar said that the strength of democracy depends on the active participation of citizens. He urged young people to ensure that their names are included in the electoral rolls and to exercise their franchise responsibly. He also called upon them to motivate other eligible citizens to participate in elections and contribute towards strengthening democratic institutions.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of youth, students, sports enthusiasts and personnel of the SSB. The participants cycled through designated routes carrying the message of electoral awareness and civic responsibility.
