
TAWAU: A cement mixer lorry driver died after being pinned in the heavy vehicle after an accident along Jalan Loji Cinta Mata-Jalan Table, around 9.45am, Tuesday.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said the victim, in his 40s, was successfully extracted by firefighters but was confirmed dead by the police.
According to him, the accident was believed to have been caused by the driver losing control, resulting in the vehicle turning turtle on the road shoulder.
He said the deceased was handed over to the police for further action.

“An eight-member team, including officers, rushed to the location 20km from the station,” he said.
The operation ended at 11.35am after making sure there was no other danger present, he added.
