
Kota Kinabalu: A fisherman was charged on Thursday with two counts of assaulting a man and damaging properties last week.
However, no plea was taken from Dedey Lamyah, 34, who appeared before Court Registrar Rita Kunsoi after the charges were read to him.
Dedey was accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Jairul Sahar Bensali at 8.30am on Oct 8 at the Sukma B field, Jalan Wisma Wanita, Likas.
On the second count, Dedey allegedly committed mischief by y breaking the tent pole belonging to the organisers of the N5 Football League which caused a loss of RM357 at the same place and time.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting, proposed bail at RM4,000 in two sureties on each charge.

The court set Oct 16 for Dedey’s appearance before a Magistrate and released him on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties on each charge.
In another case, a durian seller was charged with criminal breach of trust.
Kevin G. Doudilim, 31, was accused of selling a Honda motorcycle which was entrusted to him by the owner at 7am on Aug 28, 2022 at Kibabaig in Penampang.
No plea was taken from Kevin after the charge under Section 406 of the Penal Code was read to him.
The prosecution offered bail at RM4,000.
Duty counsel Lim, representing the accused, applied for a lower bail and was the sole breadwinner of his family of three.
Rita fixed Oct 16 for Kevin’s plea to be taken before a Magistrate and was allowed bail of RM2,000 in two sureties.
In the same court, an unemployed man was tentatively charged with trafficking 50.17gm of syabu.
Julhari Allus was accused of committing the offence at an open space by the roadside of Jalan Sepanggar, Manggatal at 12.50pm on Oct 4.
No plea was recorded from Julhari.
The charge is framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
The prosecution offered no bail as it was an unbailable offence.
The court set Nov 21 for mention pending the chemist’s report and ordered the accused, who was not represented, to be remanded further.
