Charlie Sheen ordered to pay $500k in child support after ex demanded $15 million

Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, was awarded $500,000 in back child support after claiming the actor had failed to pay the full amount owed since 2011.

The former Two and a Half Men star, 60, wed Mueller in 2008 before splitting in 2009 and officially divorcing in 2011. They share 17-year-old twin sons, Max and Bob.

In December 2025, Mueller, 48, filed a petition to the court, seeking $15 million in unpaid child support. She claimed that Sheen had not been paying the agreed-upon $55,000 per month child support for years. While he made full payments in 2010, she claimed that beginning in July 2011, he made either partial or no payments, totaling $8,967,600 in unpaid child support and an additional $6,418,643 in accrued interest.

During the latest hearing, according to People, Sheen argued that there were times over the years when he had full custody of his sons and therefore should not be responsible for those months of child support.

Per the outlet, the judge ruled that “the parties acknowledge that they have exchanged and reviewed their positions and calculations concerning the claimed arrearages, credits, and interest.” Sheen was ordered to pay Mueller $500,000 in back child support and $60,000 for attorney fees.

The $500,000 payment may be divided into two payments, with the first due by Friday, July 10, and the second by September 1.

Sheen and Mueller share joint custody of their sons, with their primary residence being with Sheen, according to January 2024 court filings obtained by People. At the time, Sheen had filed an emergency court order seeking full custody of his sons, should Mueller fail a drug test.

The filing laid out that Mueller, who has been open about her struggles with addiction, must undergo drug and alcohol tests weekly at a minimum, and should she test positive, sole custody would be given to Sheen, who has been sober since December 2017.

“Brooke shall enjoy reasonable and flexible periods of custody and visitation as agreed and arranged between the Parties,” it stated, “recognizing the goal of frequent and continuous contact between the minors and both parents.”

Speaking to People at the time, Sheen said: “I’ve mostly been raising my 14-year-old boys. Their mom has been trying to figure some stuff out on her end, so she’s not in the picture too much right now.

“They’re really cool, really smart, and really funny,” he added of his sons. The Independent has contacted representatives for Sheen and Mueller for comment.

Sheen has been married twice before, first to Donna Peele from 1995 to 1996 and later to Denise Richards from 2002 to 2006. He also has three daughters: his eldest, Cassie, from a previous relationship, and Sami and Lola, whom he shares with Richards.
