
Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here, Tuesday, with three counts of cheating.
Choo Yu Ping, who appeared before Magistrates Stephanie Sherron Abbie and Lovely Natasha Charles, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
On the first count Choo was accused of cheating the Auto Industries Batteries (E.M) Sdn Bhd company by deceiving the company and inducing it into giving six units of N150 Fujiya vehicle batteries worth RM2,610 by providing non-existent online transactions receipts.
The offence was allegedly committed at the said company in Inanam here at 4.42pm on May 21, 2021.
Choo on the second count, allegedly cheated the same company of six units of Fujiya N150 (25P) batteries and two units of MF Korea 105D31L worth RM3,310 with the same method at the same place at 9.21am on May 28, 2021.
On the third count, Choo was accused of cheating the same company of two units of Yuasa 95D31R 17P vehicle batteries valued at RM660 with the same modus operandi at the same place at 1.46pm on May 22, the same year.
Each charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one year an 10 years and with whipping and liability of a fine on conviction.
The prosecution applied for another mention date and proposed bail between RM7,000 and RM4,000 in two sureties.
Unrepresented, Choo requested a lower bail amount.
Magistrate Stephanie set July 19 for pre-trial case management of the first and second count and released Choo on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties.
Choo’s third case was set for case management on Aug 3 before Magistrate Lovely, who granted him bail at RM2,000 undeposited in two sureties.
