Trespassing: Filipino gets 3 months

Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old Filipino was sentenced to three months’ jail on Thursday for trespassing into a building premises here.

Samil Hajat pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to sneaking into the Medan Perdana area along with two accomplices still at large at 2.30pm on June 19 this year.

Inspector Suzie Kupit, prosecuting, told the court that the security guard of the said premises spotted three unknown men wandering outside the hall and contacted the police.

The police then managed to catch one of them, later identified as Samil, who fell from the hall ceiling in bid to escape arrest.

Samil was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine of up to RM3,000, or both, on conviction.

He was also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.

In another case, a 23-year-old man was charged with three counts of disposing of stolen jewellery items.

Unemployed Md Hafiz Ruhaili pleaded not guilty to committing the offence framed under Section 414 of the Penal Code.

He was accused of disposing of a stolen gold bangle, a gold ring and a gold pendant belonging to one Hasnah Abd Mali at a gold shop at Taman Indah Permai here on June 21, June 14 and June 15, respectively.

The court set July 8 for case management and released Hafiz on a bail of RM1,500 in two sureties on each charge.
