Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is expecting a lot from youngster Cole Palmer.

The English talent has joined from Manchester City in a big money deal to compete for an attacking spot.

Pochettino, who spoke during a press conference, outlined the club's reasons for pushing to sign Palmer.

He stated: I think it was when the sporting directors and owners translate the idea to add him to the squad, I think he is fit for the project and a young and talented player.

He decides to come because he expects to play maybe more and be and be important here but I think that is not the most important, the important thing is he wants to come because he has seen Chelsea has a project for him and a way to improve his game and to be more involved.

The quality is there and the potential and now he needs to prove and show he is better than his teammates. It's about fighting for his place."

He added on Palmer making an immediate impact: We have to be careful with young guys because like experienced players they need time to settle.

He will move from Manchester to London, and London is different, the club is different, the culture and everything and before he starts to perform, he must settle. He must find his space and feel comfortable. We are not going to put pressure on him to perform like any player. Most important now is to be calm and to be happy and to find his space in the team."
