Southampton face a battle to keep hold of head of recruitment Joe Shields.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is reporting Chelsea are chasing Shields' signing.
Shields has reportedly been approached by the club to become to the new director of recruitment at Stamford Bridge, which corresponds closely to the head of international scouting position vacated by Scott McLachlan earlier this summer.
Shields has impressed in each of his two roles so far.
According to the Athletic though, no contact has been made between the clubs and even if something did happen, they would enforce a six-month notice period. Shields only moved to St Mary's in July.
