A Class III student from Innocent Hearts School, Harnaaz Kaur Kohli, has got her name entered in the India Book of Records with her rare feat. She has made a record by spinning a hula hoop 50 times around her waist in just 25 seconds while remaining suspended from a rod. She has been felicitated with a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.
It has not been an easy going for Harnaaz as she has had to follow a tough schedule to reach that pace and that too after a consistent practice. “She gets up daily at 5 am daily for practice and spends hours to improve herself every single day. She gets ready to school, takes some rest, completes her homework and again gets back for her evening practice", shared her father Dilraj Singh, a resident of Model House here.
Harnaaz added in, “I was practising to stay hung from a rod while also increasing the number of spins with hula hoop. It just struck my mind that I could merge both the activities and spin hula hoop while hanging from a rod. I realised that my speed of spinning was increasing this way and it ultimately led me to make the record." Asked if she found it tough, she explained, “It certainly is. Sometimes, my palm begins to ache badly. Then the only way out is to stop hanging for two days or till I recover completely".
Dilraj Singh said, “We always wanted to keep Harnaaz away from the use of mobile phone. So, her mother gifted her skates. Skating helped her improve her agility, flexibility, balance and coordination. She has won 18 medals so far, including 12 gold medals. She has now even mastered the art of using hula hoop while skating".
Harnaaz has already set her next target. “I have to practise more with hula hoop till I have my entry for this in Asia Book of Records", she quipped. Harnaaz has been felicitated by Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Singh Walia and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur.
