Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged the people, particularly youth, to foster patriotism, preserve unity, and safeguard racial and religious harmony across Sabah.
He stressed that racial unity remains the cornerstone of the state's strength and must continue to be upheld in the modern era.
In his message for the National Day and Sabah Day celebrations on August 31, Hajiji said the twin occasions should be deeply appreciated to honour the sacrifices of past freedom fighters.
He expressed confidence that both celebrations serve as a vital unifying platform for all Malaysians in Sabah, regardless of their racial or religious backgrounds.
According to Hajiji, this year’s National Day theme, Malaysia MADANI: Shared Prosperity, underscores the government's commitment to inclusive progress and equitable prosperity for all citizens.
He added that the Sabah Day theme, Sabah Tanah Airku, reflects the people’s pride and loyalty while highlighting the vital role of community togetherness in sustaining state progress.
The Chief Minister concluded by urging Sabahans to fly the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flags at homes, offices, vehicles, and business premises to demonstrate patriotism and reject elements threatening local harmony.
