Indraprastha Gas Limited on Sunday increased compressed natural gas (CNG) prices by Rs 1 per kg across its network, marking the second hike in less than 48 hours and adding to the fuel cost burden on commuters in Delhi-NCR.
Following the latest revision, CNG in Delhi will now cost Rs 80.09 per kg, while consumers in Noida and Ghaziabad will pay Rs 88.70 per kg.
The hike comes just days after IGL had raised CNG prices by Rs 2 per kg on May 15, taking the Delhi rate to Rs 79.09 per kg. With Sunday’s increase, CNG prices in the national capital have crossed the Rs 80-per-kg mark for the first time.
The repeated hikes are expected to impact private vehicle owners, cab drivers and public transport users who rely heavily on CNG as a relatively economical fuel option.
The May 15 revision had coincided with a broader increase in fuel prices by the Central government. Petrol prices in Delhi were raised by nearly Rs 3 per litre to Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel climbed to Rs 90.67 per litre.
