An awareness campaign aptly titled “Stop Domestic Violence” was held here on Sunday to empower women’s rights in Sabah.

Organised by the Malaysian Information Technology Pioneers Club (MyTech) under Rozy Razit, with support from civil society groups and political parties including Wanita KEADILAN, the event was officiated by KEADILAN Kota Kinabalu Chief Grace Lee.

In her speech, Grace stressed the need for collaboration between government, NGOs and communities to ensure the safety of women and children, in line with the Malaysia MADANI framework.

Officer in Charge of the Sabah Women and Children’s Investigation Division (D11), DSP Roziah Abdul Rashid presented data and statistics on domestic violence cases in the state.

KEADILAN Women’s Deputy Treasurer Karen Kasturi spoke on the often-overlooked issue of financial abuse within households and provided guidance on women’s financial management.

Meanwhile, Telegapathi from the KEADILAN Women’s Legal Bureau shared insights on women’s legal rights and protections available under Malaysian law.

The strong turnout reflected rising public awareness and commitment to addressing domestic violence in Sabah.
