Students of different schools learned about the correct ways to choose right careers during a counselling session held on the second and concluding day of The Tribune Edu Expo in Shimla on Thursday. Aadi Garg, a renowned career counsellor, gave insights into career choices available to students. He elaborated on different career opportunities and degrees, which students could pursue on the basis of their skill sets and interests.
Garg said, “Whatever career you want to pursue, you should come up with a blueprint about how to achieve success in it. The first person the students should consider is themselves, the second is their parents, third is their teachers and the fourth is a psychologist, who can help them in choosing a suitable career.”
Garg said that humanities students could go for designing, product designing, hospitality sector, economics, sociology, law and sculpturing. He added that commerce students could choose between B Com, BBA, MBA and integrated courses. “Non-medical students can go for chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, computer science, architecture and aeronautical engineering while medical students can opt for paramedics, pharmacy or physiotherapy,” he added.
He said that the present was about choosing the right direction and clarity. “Your output depends upon your inputs and the students need to learn that the present is their future,” he added.
The session concluded with a felicitation ceremony, during which students were awarded certificates of appreciation.
