Comedian Pete Davidson reflects on father’s death in 9/11

  • Pete Davidson has reflected on experiencing his first 9/11 anniversary as a father, 25 years after his father, firefighter Scott Matthew Davidson, died in the World Trade Center attacks aged 33.
  • The comedian welcomed his daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, in December with former partner Elsie Hewitt, naming her in honour of his late father.
  • Davidson expressed that reaching the age his father was when he died has made this year's anniversary particularly challenging, yet healing and special.
  • He recounted learning about his father's death from a television broadcast at age seven, after three weeks of uncertainty following the 2001 terrorist attacks.
  • Davidson and Jon Stewart will host a comedy benefit at Madison Square Garden on 10 September to raise funds for 9/11 first responders and their families.
