SANDAKAN: A Community Development Officer (CDO), remanded to assist in an investigation into a corruption case involving the Sabah Maju Jaya Affordable Housing Project, was released on bail by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sandakan branch.

The man was released on April 30 with the conditions of a local guarantor, a bail amount of RM20,000 (including a RM5,000 deposit), and is required to report to any MACC branch once a month.

On April 25, media reported that the man was remanded for six days until May 1 on suspicion of receiving around RM40,000 in bribes related to the housing project.

Sabah MACC Director, Datuk Karunanithy Y. Subbiah, confirmed the case and said investigations are ongoing under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
