President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said that the AAP government in Punjab has lost its moral authority to continue due to complete lawlessness and anarchy across the state. “This is high time that the government either starts to act or decides to abdicate, sooner the better,” he warned.
Reacting to the riot and arson inside the Kapurthala jail on Saturday night and the murder of ASI Joga Singh in Amritsar on Sunday, Warring said that the AAP government has clearly abdicated its authority and that the criminals and gangsters are having a free run. “There is no fear of law,” he remarked.
Referring to the incident of arson and riots which occurred inside the Kapurthala jail, Warring said, “The violence that took place inside the high security jail only proves one thing, that AAP government’s writ does not run even inside the jail premises, while it has already ceased to exist outside”.
He said the manner in which jail inmates were able to unleash unprecedented violence and arson indicated that those entrusted with maintaining order were either incompetent or lacked the will to act firmly.
Referring to the killing of ASI Joga Singh in Amritsar while he was on his way to duty, Warring said if policemen themselves are not safe and can be targeted at the will of criminals and gangsters, one can only imagine the sense of insecurity among ordinary citizens.
