PENAMPANG: A group calling themselves Penampang Watchers urged former Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and former Deputy CM Datuk Raymond Tan to come clean over their alleged role in Sabah’s biggest RM130 million corruption scandal involving the State Water Department.
Its spokesman Edwin Jomiji said what was also worrying was that Pairin’s involvement, if true, would tarnish the institution of the Higuan Siou (paramount leader) which he now holds for life after being bestowed by Penampang residents.
He said the existence of a scheme to siphon away millions meant for the supply of clean treated water for Sabahans was upsetting in the light of many people Statewide now faced with either contaminated water or shortages.
