
KOTA KINABALU: The State Government presented contributions to 11 veterans associations in recognition of the services and sacrifices of security personnel.
The contributions were presented by Head of State Tun Musa Aman at the State-level 2026 Hari Pahlawan Thanksgiving Ceremony, held for the first time at the State Mosque, on Friday.
The recipients included the Sabah Armed Forces Veterans Association, Malaysia Non-Pensionable Armed Forces Veterans Association, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Veterans Association Sabah Branch, Malaysian Commando Veterans Association Sabah and Royal Signals Regiment Veterans Association Sabah Branch.
Other recipients were the Sabah Paskal Veterans Association, Sabah Royal Military Instructors Veterans Association, Sabah Armed Forces Veterans Sports Club, Malaysian Intelligence Corps Veterans Association Sabah Branch, Malaysian Ex-Police Association and Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Retirees Association.
About 1,500 guests comprising state leaders, federal and state department heads, security agency personnel and veterans attended the ceremony.
Musa arrived at 6.20pm and was received by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, together with federal and state department heads.
Musa and Hajiji later performed Maghrib prayers, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin, tahlil and Isyak prayers led by State Mosque Chief Imam Ustaz Suhaidi Kuanting.
A special religious talk and thanksgiving prayer were delivered by Sabah Mufti Datuk Ustaz Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar before the contribution presentation and dinner.
Also present were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Assistant Rural Development Minister Datuk Samad Jambri, State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman, Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Razali Wahab and Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, who is also Chairman of the Sabah State-level 2026 Hari Pahlawan celebration.
