MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines struck two gold medals in the Asian and Oceania Sambo Championship after Jomary Torres and Princes Aumagel Cortez ruled their respective divisions at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium Saturday.
Torres topped Kazakhstan's Zhadyra Paiyz in combat sambo women's -50kg division, claiming the championship in just 17 seconds after a roundhouse kick against Paiyz.
On the other hand, Cortez defeated another Kazakh in Mervet Berdikhanova to reign supreme in the combat sambo women's -59kg division.
