Kota Kinabalu: Lawyers involved in the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir have thanked media practitioners for their professional, fair and accurate coverage of the proceedings since they began in September 2025.
Counsel Shahlan Jufri, who represents Zara’s mother Noraidah Lamat, said media organisations had carried out their duties professionally in reporting on the inquest.
“Thank you very much for reporting on the inquest accurately and promptly,” he said at a press conference on Friday.
Counsel Joan Goh, who represents Student A, also thanked the media for providing fair and balanced coverage of both sides, while the legal teams representing Zara’s parents and the other students involved continued to follow the proceedings.
The verdict is expected to be delivered by Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan on Jan 15, 2027.
