Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira was happy after their 1-1 draw with Leeds United in Perth.

Rodrigo's second-half penalty was cancelled out by Palace striker Jean Phillipe Mateta in a feisty affair Down Under.

Vieira said, "I think the pitch is what it is. we have to deal with it. I thought both teams showed the competitive nature of the Premier League. We wanted that game to be real and I was pleased with the intensity and physical side of the game.

"We have to make the best decision to help those players to grow, they have to play week in, week out. When you look at the last situation of the game, the front three or four were really young."

He also said: "I think the philosophy of the manager is clear. They play with a lot of intensity. They are aggressive defending from the front foot. I was really pleased with the quality of the game.

"I think the referee did a really good job. Both teams wanted to win the game and I think that's why the fans enjoyed it. They played with the intensity of the Premier League."
