Cameron Norrie kicks off day three at Roland Garros with a superb match-up against Daniil Medvedev on Court Simonne Mathieu. The Brit has been struggling of late and comes up against the men’s 11th seed in a first round clash that could not be more difficult.
Over on Court Philippe-Chatrier Coco Gauff begins her quest to win the French title having been the beaten finalist on the last two clay tournaments, the Madrid and Italian Opens. She faces off against Australia’s Olivia Gadecki around midday in the match preceding Novak Djokovic’s return to Roland Garros.
The 38-year-old has won here three times previously and hopes to add to that tally since ending his coaching partnership with Andy Murray. A poor start to the season means Djokovic comes into the tournament as somewhat of an underdog with questions remaining about a potential decline.
Jack Draper is also in search of a strong run in the French Open and is up fourth on Suzanne Lenglen. Mattia Bellucci will be a tough opponent but Draper is proving to be an able performer on clay and has hopes of reaching the latter stages.

The French Open is picking humans over technology. Novak Djokovic thinks that's a bad call
10:00
,
Mike Jones
For Novak Djokovic, this is a relatively easy call: He, like many players, thinks the French Open is making a mistake by eschewing the electronic line-calling used at most big tennis tournaments and instead remaining old school by letting line judges decide whether serves or other shots land in or out.
Plenty of sports, from soccer and baseball to the NFL, are replacing, or at least helping, officials with some form of high-tech replays or other technology. Tennis, too, is following that trend, except at Roland-Garros, where competition continues through June 8.

Emma Raducanu admitted she was battling an illness as she came through a three-set marathon against Xinyu Wang to book a blockbuster second-round meeting with defending champion Iga Swiatek at the French Open.
The 22-year-old called for the doctor in the first set having rubbed ice on her cheeks and round her eyes as she had her blood pressure checked.
Raducanu then claimed the opening set but Wang rallied to take the second in front of a big crowd on a cramped Court Eight yet the Brit hit back to complete a gutsy 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory in two hours and 44 minutes – the joint-longest match of her career on clay.
Raducanu, who came into the tournament managing a back problem, said: “I think I’m actually really proud of today’s match, more so than a lot of the matches that I played recently or in general, because I woke up and I felt really sick, to be honest.
“I felt bad from the morning. I was just trying and fighting through that. It was really difficult. You know, in the first set, I just felt it straight away and it didn’t really go away throughout the whole match.
“To have kind of come through that and overcome how I was feeling, I’m really happy with and I didn’t let it kind of, you know…it would have been easy to kind of let it drag me down.
“I don’t know why I’ve struggled today. The last few days, I’ve just not really been feeling great. I guess I’m managing a few things. I’m glad I can have some rest and hopefully rest up before playing Wednesday.”

Novak Djokovic finally claimed his 100th ATP Tour-level singles title with a hard-fought victory over Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the final of the Geneva Open.
Djokovic fought back from losing the first set and being a break down in the decider to beat Hurkacz 5-7 7-6 (2) 7-6 (2) in a gruelling contest lasting three hours and four minutes.
The Serbian is just the third man in the Open era – after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer – to win 100 ATP titles.

Emma Raducanu needed a lengthy medical time-out as she came through a three-set marathon to book a blockbuster second-round meeting with defending champion Iga Swiatek at the French Open.
The 22-year-old was leading China’s Wang Xinyu 6-5 in the first set when she called for the doctor, rubbing ice on her cheeks and round her eyes as she had her blood pressure checked.
There were fears that Raducanu, who has had a history of injury and illness issues throughout her career, would have to retire from the match. But after three minutes of treatment she came back on to the court and confidently served out the set to love.
Wang rallied to take the second set but, in front of a big crowd on a cramped Court Eight, Raducanu hit back to complete a gutsy 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory in two hours and 44 minutes – the joint-longest match of her career on clay.
