MANILA, Philippines — Three-time champion Danny Green is known for his clutch three-point shooting in the NBA. But much as loves to shoot from long distance the 15-year NBA veteran said he is not a fan of the 4-point shot.
Green, who is in the country to promote phone brand, shared his thoughts on the 4-point line of the PBA.
“Oh, people talk about it. We’ll see it’d be interesting if they incorporated it in NBA,” Green told The Manila Times in an ambush interview during his meet-and-greet event at Vivo Concept Store in SM Megamall.
“But I wouldn’t do a four-point line,” he added.
Green has won three NBA championships from three different teams: the San Antonio Spurs (2014), Toronto Raptors (2019), and Los Angeles Lakers (2020).
In the 2013 Finals between his San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat, Green made 27 triples, setting a then-NBA record for the most three-pointers in a Finals series, surpassing Ray Allen’s record of 22.
Stephen Curry then surpassed Green in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, finishing the seven-game series with 32 made three-pointers.
This is the second time that Green visited the Philippines. His last visit was in 2015.
After 11 years, he said that a lot has changed, including the 4-point shot.
“Well, a lot has changed. It has been great so far, probably way better, and a lot of establishments now too,” he added.
