Kota Kinabalu: Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth Sabah Chief Chan Loong Wei accused Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) President Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan of attempting to deflect attention from a corruption scandal and falsely implicating Pakatan Harapan (PH) for his situation.

Chan described Jeffrey’s tactics as a desperate attempt to prolong his political career, particularly in light of recent allegations.

He was referring to a Malaysiakini report showing WhatsApp screenshots released by a whistleblower named Albert, which allegedly describe Jeffrey repeatedly accepting bribes between April and December 2023 disguised as “Christmas gifts” and “land purchase fees.” “Jeffrey allegedly requested RM200,000 for a land deal, sought funds for personal expenses and repeatedly asked for money to cover festive celebrations and travel costs. These are serious allegations that demand a direct response.”“This corruption allegation is Jeffrey’s alone to answer for. It has nothing to do with PH. The people deserve transparency and accountability. If Jeffrey is innocent, he should confront these accusations head-on instead of creating diversions.”He emphasized the need to refocus politics on serving the people, addressing critical issues, and building a better society, rather than allowing it to be manipulated by individuals.

“Instead, he is using PH as a scapegoat for his leaving Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).”
