Police are in pursuit of four male suspects involved in a daring heist at a goldsmith shop located in a Bakar Arang shopping mall yesterday afternoon. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about security in local commercial areas.

According to Kuala Muda police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail, the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD) was alerted to the robbery at approximately 4:45 PM. Responding swiftly, officers discovered that the robbery was executed by three masked men who entered the shop, intimidating the two female employees present. The suspects were reportedly wearing gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints, indicating a level of premeditation and caution.

A fourth accomplice stayed behind in a white MyVi car, presumably as the getaway driver, ready to facilitate the group's swift escape. This detail suggests a well-coordinated plan, likely with prior reconnaissance and role assignment among the suspects.

The thieves managed to flee with an assortment of jewellery items. While the exact financial loss is still being calculated, the impact on the shop's owners and employees is undoubtedly significant. The psychological trauma for the victims, although not physically injured, can be profound, emphasizing the serious nature of the crime.

In response to the robbery, the police have intensified their investigative efforts. The involvement of the K9 unit and the forensic team from the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) underscores the commitment to thoroughly examine all available evidence and track down the culprits.

This robbery is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code, which deals with gang robbery and armed robbery, respectively. These sections carry severe penalties, reflecting the gravity of the offence.

Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance. ACP Wan Azharuddin has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving such crimes. Those with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Kuala Muda IPD at 04-4299222 or reach out directly to the investigating officer, ASP Bukhari Idris, at 017-4794933.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, hoping for a swift resolution and the apprehension of the suspects to restore a sense of security and normalcy.
