The school announced the outstanding achievement of its Class X student, Atiksh Thakur, who secured eighth position in the Blitz category at an international chess tournament held on the KIIT Campus, Odisha. The event witnessed participation from chess players representing various countries and regions across the world. Atiksh delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, earning a cash prize of Rs 7,500. His remarkable achievement included defeating an International Master (IM) and drawing games against Grandmasters (GMs), showcasing his talent and competitive spirit at the highest level. His performance resulted in a significant rating gain of 162 points in Blitz and 60 points in Classical Chess, further strengthening his standing in the chess community. Adding another milestone to his growing list of achievements, Atiksh has emerged as one of Himachal Pradesh’s top-rated chess players of all time, reflecting his dedication, discipline and passion for the game. Principal Mahender Singh Thakur congratulated him on his success and wished him greater achievements in the future.
