A closer look at the receipt showed that she also ordered watermelon juice, priced at RM25, and Maklouba rice lamb for RM85. After adding the service charge and service tax, @pinatzamree ended up paying RM135.70 for the meal.

In the caption, she asked netizens about their “daylight robbery” experience and revealed that the RM7 air suam was hers.

She further elaborated that she had made a mistake by not asking or checking the price of warm water at the restaurant before ordering. The eatery staff had also told her that there was a charge for warm water when she asked for it.

However, she didn’t think that the charge would be as high as RM7. @pinatzamree asserted,

“I just thought how much could air suam cost you? Naahh, there you have it. RM7.00! ”

Malaysians replied to the post with their two cents on the matter

In the replies to the Threads post, Malaysians were also shocked by the RM7 charge for warm water, with many commenters urging @pinatzamree to lodge a report with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

One commenter said that the price is blatant profiteering, which KPDN can definitely take action against.

Meanwhile, another commenter was as shocked by the RM7 charge for the warm water as the RM25 price the eatery charged for watermelon juice, saying that such prices are not okay.

Besides that, one netizen who had dined at the restaurant before called out the establishment for not providing complimentary water.

Another commenter joked that at RM7, the warm water should come with the kettle, while another noted that for that price, the woman could’ve easily bought a serving of coconut shake at other eateries.
