De Jesus misses out on WNBA draft

A few days after declaring for the WNBA draft, Vanessa de Jesus was undrafted in this year’s selection, after she was not among the 45 players who were picked.

Over the weekend, De Jesus, who is playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish of the NCAA, declared that she will be at the draft.

Azzi Fudd of the University of Connecticut Huskies was selected first overall by the Dallas Wings.

The draft also featured two new WNBA teams: the Portland Fire and the Toronto Tempo.

De Jesus played in two FIBA tournaments with Gilas Pilipinas women, in the 2023 and 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup Division A.

In 2023, she averaged 12.8 points per game, 1.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 7.8 efficiency rating in five games, while in the 2025 edition, she had 13.8 points per game, 2.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 8.8 efficiency rating.

Prior to the 2023 tournament, De Jesus acquired her Philippine passport, in order to play for the national team.
