An unidentified body was discovered inside the wheel compartment of an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) this morning.

The body was found at around 6.55am after an aircraft from Tokyo, Japan, landed at KLIA2 at approximately 6.30am, according to reports.

Foul smell led to discovery

The body was reportedly discovered by engineering staff who were assigned to inspect and open the aircraft’s wheel compartment.

The staff allegedly noticed a suspicious foul smell coming from the compartment before opening it and discovering the body.

They then alerted the KLIA2 police station operations room, prompting the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Forensics Unit to be called to the scene for further investigation.

Victim believed to be in 20s

Preliminary investigations found that the victim was believed to be in their 20s and may have been dead for more than 72 hours.

The body was reportedly wearing jeans and a white shirt, but no identification documents were found.

Police are currently investigating to determine the victim’s identity and the cause of death.
