The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Ltd for the construction of a world-class auditorium and community centre in Shalimar Bagh under the Chief Minister Development Fund.
The agreement was signed in the presence of MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar and NBCC Chairman and Managing Director KP Mahadevaswamy.
According to officials, the project aims to develop a modern public facility equipped for social, cultural, educational and administrative activities.
The proposed auditorium will have a seating capacity of around 1,000 people and is expected to host public events, seminars, cultural programmes, official functions, and community gatherings.
The project will also include two conference halls with a seating capacity of nearly 100 persons each for meetings, workshops, training sessions and public interactions.
MCD officials said the project was part of the civic body’s efforts to strengthen public infrastructure and improve community facilities in Delhi.
They added that NBCC, a Government of India enterprise, had been entrusted with the execution of the project owing to its experience in handling large-scale infrastructure works.
