FILIPINO weightlifter Albert Ian Delos Santos snared three gold medals and established two new records in the process at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships men’s 70-kilogram (kg) class in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old lifted 141 in snatch and 180 kg in clean and jerk for a total of 321 kg, sweeping all three golds.
Delos Santos’ 180 kg in clean and jerk, and 321-kg total are now the new Asian and world junior records in the 70-kg men’s category.
With his three golds, Delos Santos raised the Philippine tally of that medal color to 16 laced with six silvers and nine bronzes.
The other Filipino gold medalists in the meet include Hidilyn Diaz’s niece Alexsandra Diaz, Jerick Icon Castro, Althea Bacaro, Jhodie Peralta, Prince Kiel Delos Santos and Angeline Colonia.
Diaz snared three gold medals in the women’s 49-kg category, one each for her 77-kg snatch, 92-kg clean and jerk, and 169-kg total.
Castro likewise lifted his way to three golds in the men’s 60-kg class, one each for his 116 kg in snatch, 144 kg in clean and jerk, and 260 kg in total.
Jhodie Peralta claimed two golds in the women’s 53-kg class, raising 86 kg in snatch and 102 kg in total.
Althea Bacaro bagged two gold medals in the youth women’s 45-kg division, hoisting 83 kg in clean and jerk, and 146 kg in total.
Prince Kiel won gold in the men’s 60 kg with 120 kg in snatch as Colonia added a gold medal with an 80-kg snatch in women’s 49-kg category.
