MANILA, Philippines — Filipino weightlifter Albert Ian Delos Santos snared 3 gold medals and established two new records in the process at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships men's 70kg class in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old lifted 141kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk for a total of 321kg, sweeping all three golds.
Delos Santos' 180 kg in clean and jerk and 321kg total are now the new Asian and world junior records in the 70kg men's category.
With his three golds, Delos Santos raised the Philippine tally of that medal color to 16 laced with six silvers and nine bronzes.
The other Filipino gold medalists in the meet include Hidilyn Diaz's niece Alexsandra Diaz, Jerick Icon Castro, Althea Bacaro, Jhodie Peralta, Prince Kiel Delos Santos, and Angeline Colonia.
Diaz snared three gold medals in the women’s 49kg category, one each for her 77kg snatch, 92kg clean and jerk, and 169kg total.
Castro likewise lifted his way to three golds in the men's 60kg class, one each for his 116kg in snatch, 144kg in clean and jerk, and 260kg in total.
Jhodie Peralta claimed two golds in the women's 53kg class, raising 86kg in snatch and 102kg in total.
Althea Bacaro bagged two gold medals in the youth women's 45kg division, hoisting 83kg in clean and jerk and 146kg in total.
Prince Kiel won gold in the men's 60kg with 120kg in snatch as Colonia added a gold medal with an 80kg snatch in women's 49kg category.
