Drivers to watch during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend
The downtown Detroit circuit remains one of the most demanding street tracks on the IndyCar calendar due to its narrow sections, concrete barriers and limited margin for error.
Track position is expected to play a major role throughout the weekend, placing extra importance on Saturday’s qualifying sessions.
Alex Palou enters the Detroit weekend carrying major momentum in the IndyCar championship fight, while Pato O’Ward again arrives as one of the biggest threats on street circuits.
Scott Dixon’s experience around temporary street circuits also makes him one of the key drivers to watch, while Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin remain major contenders entering the weekend.
The weekend also includes IMSA competition and INDY NXT races as rising prospects continue battling for opportunities further up the IndyCar ladder.
Beyond the racing action, Detroit Grand Prix organizers have continued emphasizing fan access, community involvement and the economic impact generated by the downtown event.
The combination of IndyCar, IMSA and INDY NXT competition once again gives Detroit one of the most diverse race weekends anywhere in North American motorsports.
