Development must reach every Sabah district: CM

SEMPORNA: Sabah’s development must be intensified across every district according to local needs and strengths rather than viewed solely from the perspective of Kota Kinabalu or major towns, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Speaking at the launch of Phase 1 and groundbreaking for Phases 2 and 3 of the Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) commercial project at Jalan Bubul on Tuesday, Hajiji said commercial ventures form an integral part of the state’s broader development journey.

He noted that Semporna's globally recognised tourism sector must grow alongside local business ventures to generate employment for youth and create commercial opportunities for resident entrepreneurs.

To maximise the site's proximity to the river and sea along the main Balung–Semporna route, Hajiji suggested developer Ampe (Semporna) Sdn Bhd consider constructing a recreational jetty to add economic and aesthetic value.

He added that the state’s roadmap under the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) from 2026 to 2030 aims to foster inclusive growth across all districts so that no area or community is left behind.
