KUALA LUMPUR - Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul today confirmed that he had officially received the resignation notice from Subang Member of Parliament Wong Chen yesterday.
"As everyone is aware, the Honourable Member for Subang has submitted a letter relinquishing his membership, effective yesterday.
"As the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, I have notified the Election Commission of the vacancy of the Subang parliamentary seat in accordance with Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution,” he said at the Special Dewan Rakyat Sitting here today.
Yesterday, Wong announced his resignation as the Subang MP in a Facebook post, confirming that he had voluntarily relinquished the position.
He also shared via the same post a notice dated Aug 5 that he had submitted to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat. - BERNAMA
